Ricky McFarland

Ricky McFarland passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022. He was born September 6,
1958, in Houston Texas to Flossie McFarland and Johnny Martin. Raised in the 3

rd Ward, Ricky attended
Frederick Douglas Elementary School, Sidney Lanier Junior High School, Stephen F. Austin Senior High
School, and the University of Houston. His church home was Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of the late F.L. Dickey. Ricky worked several jobs throughout his life span but soon
decided on a career in law enforcement. Ricky entered the Houston Police Academy, on May 7, 1986,
and retired 32 years later, on January 27, 2018. He was assigned to the Jail Division and Southeast
Division during his career. Ricky met and married Roseni (Rosie) on September 24, 2004 in Rio de
Janiero, Brazil. Ricky truly lived life to the fullest, through traveling and attending gatherings with family
and friends.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Rosie McFarland; 2 brothers, Johnnie(Kim) McFarland, and Fuzzy
McFarland, 2 nieces, Be’Atrice Randall, Robin McFarland, 2 nephews, Robert McFarland Jr. Ronnie
McFarland and a host of great nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends.
